Creating Through The Catalogue | A Good Man | Father's Day Card

19 August 2020

Welcome back to another post on creating through the catalogue. Today we will be looking at the "A Good Man" stamp set (page 32 of the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue). It's funny how this is where I am up to in the catalogue and we have Father's Day coming up in September here in Australia. So the current round of stamp sets suits this celebration perfectly.

For this card I used Early Espresso cardstock for the base card, then added a layer of Crumb Cake Card stock. I used the Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing folder to give a nice subtle background using Basic Gray cardstock. I wanted to keep to the subtle colours, so decided to stamp the image of the man holding a child in Early Espresso straight onto the Coastal Cabana cardstock and deliberately didn't colour it with Stampin' Blends.

To add a bit more interest I added the Forever Greenery vanilla trim and Just Jade 2020-2022 In Colour ribbon and slid through one of the antique slides from the World of Good suite to add the look of a belt buckle.

The sentiment was stamped using Early Espresso Classic stampin' pad onto Crumb Cake Cardstock, and as I already had some interest with the image of the man and child in a nice border I thought I would just leave the sentiment cut straight with no trimmings!!

For the inside I added another piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and stamped the Father's Day sentiment in Early Espresso.

I have actually been loving pushing myself to create interesting masculine cards, I am very good at coming up with ideas for feminine cards, but can find it difficult for masculine. I have found once you start somewhere, such as something as simple as stamping the main image you want to use, then the creating juices start flowing and things just seem to fall together.
I hear a lot of people say, "I'm not crafty, or I couldn't do that". Every CAN! you just have to get out of your comfort zone for a little while and just give it a go. Also when crafting there is no such thing as a mistake, it is simply an opportunity!!

My next YouTube tutorial I plan to create a "simple" card, to show that creating can be fun & easy to do, but with beautiful results. I hope to create a video once a week so if you have any requests please leave a comment below and I will create a video around your request!!

Here is a link to my YouTube channel, I had to step WAY out of my comfort zone to create this first video, however now that I have done one, I have no excuses left and know I can create more!!

I also have a Facebook page, where I recently gave away a stamp set & matching dies valued at $100!! I plan to have another give away soon, so please follow me over there too!
